Sounds like dealer installation item. Not factory

Re: GM security system?

There are a few mentions of that security system on the forum in older threads. Generally it's easier to search with google. Probably won't find too much info. From what I've seen/read, it's a "GM" branded accessory that was sold over the counter at the dealership. Most of that stuff was just rebranded Code Alarm hardware.

Yeah, google mainly just shows amazon and flea bay results, but that's something I suppose. My only real concern is removing or bypassing it so I can tell what shape the drivetrain is in,I'm certainly not interested in getting it working!Gonna have to dig into it and see what all is involved with taking it out,how hard can it be lol......famous last words!

Re: GM security system?

Thanks for the compliment.

Yeah, the module for mine's in a bag in the trunk. Only the keypad under the dash and the horn under the hood remain. I leave them because the original owner had them installed by the dealer before he picked up the car.

Has the VIN etched in all the glass too. All I need is a Club and a steering column collar to protect the ignition cylnder, and it will be '80/'90s security-tastic!
