Re: Backspin, here 🙂

If you have a chip in your ignition key it has a starter enable relay under the drivers side kick panel.

Is there a chip deal on your ignition key? Or just a standard key? The passkey module is on the passenger side up in the dash, hard to see and hard to get to. What is the actual problem here?

Thanks could be the relay behind the kick plate or the unit that stops starting when in gear, which is under the console.
How do i remove the console?

Re: Backspin, here 🙂

Also when i removed the starter there was no gaskets between the exhaust pipes and the manifold so i put some high temp gasket cement when i re installed the starter.
is this correct?

Re: Backspin, here 🙂

The local Ponti guy here said if i have a chip in the key, which it does , then its a 1989, not 88.
I removed the kickplate and found a small metal component with 2 plugs coming out?
What you think and can anyone post a pic jf they have similar?
Thanks so much.

Re: Backspin, here 🙂

If the engine is having a tenancy to 'backspin' during cranking it could be wayyy out of timing adjustment

Re: Backspin, here 🙂

It looks like the starter relay will have to by passed.
Will this be ok and not cause any other damage?
