So i picked up an 87 350tpi auto found a wire next to the battery that runs to a fuse holder but the wires are cut wires are orange and orange/blk, hopefully someone knows what they go to because I cant find a single 30amp fuse on any diagrams. On another note both battery cables are black and I jumped it backwards, start barely turns now and mostly just clicks after attempting to turn for a brief moment, any ideas of what I fried?
edit: got it turn over and start for a second after charging it assume it died due to the bad fuel pump. Im assuming the fuse is the wrong size and that the wires shown can be spliced together, but id like to know what they go to before i mess with them.

 

When jumping a car you don't go by battery cable color. You go by those huge + and - signs molded into the top of the battery like in you pic.

 

It is the 20 amp "Inline fuse" (as it's described in the service manual) and it powers the ECM and the fuel pump.....






At the top of this diagram, "Inline Fuse 2 20A" seen feeding the fuel pump relay, MAF relays, & ECM;

 

So if its this inline fuse i can just cut and splice these two wires together and replace the fuse with a 20amp? I should be running the org/blk to the postive terminal i guess.

Hi, as long as you end up with the circuit fused at 20 amps, that's whats important. Personally I'd go to the local autoparts store and buy a "pigtail" fuseholder and properly splice that into the circuit.

Instead of splicing wires, why not just crimp new terminals on the existing wires and stuff it in the fuse holder? Good as new.

I'm pretty sure I have the terminals you need. And I think I have new fuse holders too.

 

Don't do that,...... just stick the proper 20AMP fuse in there and be done with it. If you've got battery power on 1 terminal of the fuse and battery voltage on the other terminal of the fuse,.. that stuff is fine and your issue is elsewhere. This schematic is for the 87 TPI:



You REALLY don't want the ECM, Fuel Pump, Fuel pump relay - and whatever else - to be on an unfused power circuit ! ( If you splice them together - there's no inline fuse ! )

 

Yes, absolutely if wires are not damaged.

 

Was planning on just reusing the existing fuse holder and out the power side to the positive terminal since the wires cut and i have no clue where its supposed to connect.
