There are two separate Yellow wires... go by the pin number and use the color for verification.
By the way, I forgot to post this yesterday:
I and one other person have used this chart, and everything works except for the oil pressure gauge. At this point I'm suspecting a printing error in the Helm's manuals that I used (don't know which one yet) and I haven't had time to check it out.

Did you 99Hawk120 get the oil pressure gage work.
It works fine for me, only thing I did different from your diagram
was that I put that speedo ground (C2 Pin9) straight to ground (chassis).

I am thinking of doing this conversion on an 86 IROC.
Can you give me some help on how to wire the electric speedometer from the 91 to work on my 86 (165 ECM w/ auto)?

I´ve just done that. my car has an Corvette -86 TPI engine it´s propably the same. I just followed the cluster wiring diagram and used the Corvettes speed sensor, it got 2 wires going from it, one I put straight to ground the other one I put to speedo input on cluster and the speedo ground on cluster also straight to ground. Everybody has been talking about a need for an VSS buffer but I didn´t need one. It works just fine without one.
The only thing I don´t know is if I can steel the ECM signal straight from the input wire from sensor.

Which sensor for the vette did you use and where can I find one?
Also does anyone know the VSS pulse rate that the 165 takes in compared to the 730? I think that I will be able to put the cluster in with little problem, but I would like to send the vss signal to the ECM also.
Are there any other problems that I will run into when swapping the new cluster in?

I used the standard sensor. Sorry I forgot to mention that my car also has the Vette transmission 700R4.
Just do a search on electronics forum for VSS and you should get the answer you need.
Here´s at least one:

Sorry I forgot. There´s one thing that nobody has mentioned, atleast I haven´t noticed. Those newer cluster connectors are further apart compared to the older cluster. I only had to move the left one the right one is in the right place. I also lifted them a little bit from the dashboard bottom( closer to the cluster for a better and safer connection). If you have any other questions
just ask and I will try to answer them if I can. The cluster swap is still in my memory because I did it 2 days ago, got the speedo working today.

I haven't had time to mess with it, been busy doing a cam swap and two rear swaps. Maybe I'll get to it in a week or two.

Well, I fired mine up last night, the four gauges in the center work (oil, temp, fuel, volts). Somehow the oil pressure gauge magically works now. The only thing I can think of is the connector on the sender was loose because the motor was hanging down at an angle with the transmission off.
My tach works, but it's completely and totally on crack. I'm going to try a few things tonight and see if I can fix the problem. I think it's MSD 6AL related.
The speedometer zeroes properly, but there is no signal yet (not hooked up). Hopefully I'll get that done tonight as well.

C1 is the connector that is behind the tachometer. It's the right hand one when looking at the dash and the left hand one when looking at the back of the instrument cluster.
i did the conversion into my 86 iroc over spring break last week, and took a bunch of pictures. i haven't got around to pretty-ing everything up yet, but i am planning on writing a tech article on it.
it will probably be a week or 2 before i am finished since i'm working around classes right now. give me some feed back with some of your problems, pictures, suggestions etc and i will incorporate them in my doc

so do you have to change the connectors that plug into the new gage cluster or do you just have to repin them?
also, do you have to use a 91-92 VSS or can you just rewire the old one?

Wow, resurrection of a dead post...
I did find out what was up with my oil pressure gauge. The sender was damaged by hitting the firewall during the transmission swap. It quit completely a little while after I made that post; but a new sender fixed the problem.
As far as the VSS, I can't help you, I used the dakota digital box when converting to a T56.
