Working on tracking down why my fuel gauge isnt working, pegged fuel which means there is nothing connect to the gauge itself. I traced wires, all are good at the bulk head and the fuel sending unit. Figured it is probably something with the gauge or wiring behind the gauges at this point. Took the cluster out of the car and checked connected at the two connected behind the cluster. This is what doesnt make sense to me, after checking the pin outs for 90-92 camaro, which is what this car is 1990 tbi camaro, I see that the fuel gauge should be a PPL wire on the drivers side in spot #4. Well, there is nothing there. Based on the pinouts I have found, it says that 9-11 are unused ports on the connecter. But on my connecter, spots 2-4 are empty, while 9-11 have wires going to them. My oil pressure gauge works, which is supposed to be in spot 3, but i think is plugged into one of the other ports. I have added 2 photos of the drivers side connector. Am I missing something?
Doesn't make much sense, but I disconnected the fuel gauge wire from 11 and put it in 4, where it theoretically belongs, no dice. I put it back into 11, made sure it was secure and bowed up like the rest of them, hooked the gauge cluster back up and well, now the fuel gauge works. Weird that the diagrams I have seen suggest one thing but my connecter is wired differently and works correctly.
Possible it had a bad connection and the cluster R&R re-seated it enough. Honestly, the entire system is dubious at this age. Bad gauge, bad connection, bad wiring, bad pass through behind the rear seat, bad sender
Its weird that in that diagram is shows fuel gauge being in the #4 slot on C2 but in the actually wiring schematics posted by Pocket, it shows C11, which is actually what I have and to be correct.
I really don't know. Figured it may be early vs late camaro gauges, but the C1/C2 is wrong too
Compared to 88/92 birds and still couldn't find anything matching that pinout
