Brake lights always on after wiring reverse lockout into brake light switch

So I’m putting in a t56 in an originally auto car and everywhere I read on here said to just wire the reverse lockout into the brake light switch so you have to push the brake to get in reverse. I wired it into the blue wire (I believe the one that powers the two main brake lights) on the side of the connector, but now my main two brake lights are always on, but the third one on the spoiler works as it should. I flipped the wires around just to try it and see if that was the issue but it’s still doing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

T56 with Reverse Lock-out ???

Skip-shift solenoid ----Yes,... But not reverse lock-out.

almost 100% positive it’s reverse lockout. It has 4 connectors. CAGS, Speedo, reverse lights and then reverse lockout.

Sorry can't speak for wiring one in as it was a previous owner install. It does release with the brakes applied but you can muscle it through without wiring it in.

I believe I have it figured it out now, there was something weird going on with the switch itself. I’ve got it fixed now

Yup,.. Seeing that pic made me remember it ! The thing to remember about the T56 reverse it to always hold it in gear; I bought a 50K Z28 back in Y2k and even with those low miles that thing would pop out of gear now and then if I wasn't holding it in Reverse. There's actually a thread somewhere here on TGO that describes how to modify the internals to correct this factory design flaw.

Found it ! https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...6-reverse.html
