Hey Ride....

got a suggestion....may or may not help....
I had the same thing on my 88 Formula....even the same engine...check the connector on the Alternator...I know it seems odd...but all I did was clean a little corrosion out of mine and made sure the terminals connected and everything was o.k.!! hope it helps!

Where is the alternator connection?
How can I tell if a fuse is blown?

the two wire plug on the alternator itself, right out in the open, spray some WD40 into the plug while its disconnected, and then reconnect it, also while you are at the alternator, check the condition of the bigger red feed wire on the backside of the alternator that is held on with threaded post and nut. make sure is not frayed or anything, mine were all frayed up bad and car had history of having battery going dead alot, no wonder.. all better now, never had that problem since ive owned the car, i fixed that the first day.. compare a new fuse to the current fuse and if the metal bridge inside of the fuse is not broken/melted- just as is the case with the new one- then it should be fine, if are in doubt about a current fuse, then replace it and try lights, etc then

good luck

well my lights work, my sounds, blinkers, tach, speedo, batt gage,
but it is only my oil, horn, h-beams, that don't work.
My gas gage "lies" to me. The needle will read 1/2 a tank,
then show 1/4?? Sometimes I think I have gas and I don't
I checked the alternator connections, they seemed fine.
I didin't check the fuse I have some higher numbered fuses
(15 to replace a 10) will this work okay??

correct amperage that you sre supposed to have for each circuit iwl be printed n white next to each fuse panel fuse slot, dunno why oil and fuel gauges are messed up, seems like third gen gauges are common problem area, i have repetitively pegged out temp and sticking tach at start up, so i guess no one can win.,,, must be crappy dash electrical design in these cars,. no one seems to have any idea what causes these instrument panel gremlins

good luck

personllay i owuknd hesitate to use 15 amp in it, also i would just rob a 10 out of a junk vehicle, i do that anyways every time i cut up a car or truck out here, so..., never have to buy new electrical switches or relays or breakers, etc etc

good luck,
