LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
I am in the process of modifying 20 LT1 Intakes for the TPI conversion. I should be done by mid July or sooner. I have done 5 intakes before and I have improved my processes. I need to know if there is 20 individuals out there interested in buying my heavily modified intakes. What I do to them is I open up the butterfly ports to 60 mm, machine the EGR casting off, open up a air gap, rear mounted coolant ports, all the mounting holes plus machining the mating surface (pre 86 or post 87 correct) epoxy filing, added aluminum for the coolant areas, distributor hole drilled, 5 degree surface machined, sand blasted and distributor hold down bolt hole drilled and taped. Whats included is, the fuel rails, injector retaining clips, pressure regulator, throttle bracket (modified) bottom windage tray and all the bolts with them. I was thinking of selling them for $350 each plus shipping or if I can get some sort of census from everybody, I will include a remote thermostat and sell them for $400 plus shipping.
!!!OPTION FOR YOU!!!!
One last thing, I will be modifying the fuel rails for AN- 6 or 8 fittings Perallel or series for $30 (series) $40 (parallel) extra towards the price of the intake at any configuration you want. I have a couple links to web sites on my computer at home, when I get a chance I will post them.
SORRY EVERYONE. Because of the economy, the cost and labor involved with modifing these intakes. I completely liquidated my inventory.
SORRY

You should post your ad over in the Corvette Forum, in the C4 for sale section, you may find some buyers there.
Good Luck.
Good Luck.

I think you should be able to sell them at that price and come july I would likely be in the market personally.
You don't specifically mention that the distributer hole will be drilled or what method will be used to level that area. IE dizzy. I'm assuming that will be done, but if I were to buy one and it wasn't I wouldn't be pleased.
I would want as brainless a product as is possible, I read the part about modifying the fuel rail fittings and moaned, more stuff i need to learn. I would want a complete package, I don't want to spend 2 weeks chasing down odds and ends parts I didn't realize i would need. I only mention it because it seems that that is the direction you are heading already.

Re: LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
Thank you for pointing that out, yes I will drill the distributor hole and machine the 5 degree surface.
----------
Which price though, the $350 or the $400 with remote thermostat?
----------
Not to sound stupid when I ask this, but what is the link to the covette forum?

You will have to register, and then go to the C4 for sales section and place a post. As for the remote thermostat, everyone is going to need it, so I would include it. Mykle's "brainless" remark is right on, I would say foolproof, as that is who is installing these things. One thing to keep in mind. The fuel rails on an F body are on the drivers side of the car, but on a C4 Corvette, they are on the passenger side. Your fuel rails should be able to be used by both. An LT1 Corvette fuel rail sells on Ebay for over $200.00, so a cheap alternative would make your package much more saleable. If you would like some pictures of a C4 fuel rail and lines, sent me a PM, I can take some and Email them to you.

What about if the customer just wants a modded distributor hole and provides the intake shipping back and fourth??? Also some pics of what you did differently then LT1intake.com would help out, I know Id like to see them cause I just need the intake converted for the distributor hole. nitrochargedv8@yahoo.com when you get a chance. thanks
Re: LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
To let everyone know, I go to college, I work full time and Im married, so my time is limited. It depends on how much work you want done, if you just want an aluminum plate mounted drilled and machined 5 degrees, I'd charge only $50, but if you want the EGR casting removed and a air cap made I'd charge $100 and you would have to wait a month at most. Which is still cheaper then any other site. I would also offer you the option of making the butterfly holes 60mm for about $15. One last thing If you want the EGR casting removed I need your intake ASAP because I just gave my machinest (who owns his own CNC in his gerage so he is able to give me a deal by doing them in bulk) the 20 intakes and he will start on them in 2 weeks. I will email you pics tommorow because I have class tonight. You'll love them. To anyone that wants more credentials look me up on ebay "aholzhaus69"

Re: LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
I was thining to myself, Why not make a list top to bottom of all the work that you offer? Like the intakes will be cleaned for ex amount of dollars and just mention everything that will be done, think that would catch more ppls eyes. List the completed intakes what it would cost to buy an intake and have work that they want done. just helpin ya out
Re: LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
Ya, thats a cool Idea. Its just going to school and I go to verious places to use tools and equipment that I would'nt always be able to offer everything. We'll see. Thank you.
Re: LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
Thats fine. Its acutualy easyer to convert to 86 then post 87. ANY THING other then VORTEC. I have thought of doing a conversion like that but that would take a lot of aluminum filling and I would need to make the proper jigs and tools to do a conversion like that.
Re: LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
I bought one of your intakes off ebay last year
A few things you need to address:
Get a better mock-up engine
The intake bolt holes were way off
I had to slot them 3/16"-1/4"
I emailed a few other who bought converted intakes from you and this was a problem on all that replied
Clean up the area around the center intake bolts
They were rough
Forget that silly "Air gap" attempt
It is so rough cut that it looks terrible and in doing so you eliminate the PCV port and air temp sensor hole
Not a huge deal, just not something I, the customer was expecting
When boring the TB holes larger, bore it completely
You left nubs inside that I had to grind down
When using cold bonding adhesives, please tell the customer what temp they are rated to
Mine did NOT like being powdercoated
Add some material on the underside of the intake to cover the EGR port on the cyl heads
Beyond that I can vouch for a good product and an honest seller
He included the necessary 93 bracket (premodified), all necessary bolts/inj clips and AFPR for the LT1 lines to clear the dist
Another option, you may want to consider selling the fuel rail adapters
Adding the remote T-stat housing in for $50 is an excellent deal
When I had to buy one, the ONLY seller had them for $90
Few bigger pics can be found in here:

Re: LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
Hey How you doing man. I experimented with adding aluminum on the Head EGR port or the the exhaust cross over port. I had a bitch of a time getting in there with the flame and the aluminum rod. I didn't realize until I sold them that I cold just add aluminum on the top and add Epoxy on the bottom. The air gap, well when you remove the EGR casting on the back you open a huge hole, so I figured it would benefit from being a port for cool air instead of its original design of flowing hot exhaust. Beside it should have been hidden by the Throttle body and the intake plumming and it sits so low how can anyone see it. Well I didn't do that mod yet so I'll leave it as an option. I dont understand the clean up around the center intake bolts, do you mean grind them or something, can you please elaborate? Thank you so much for your input I have learned a lot from working on the first 5 and I have greatly improved my processes.

Re: LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
Ok, Idk what needs to be done to make this intake work with my 86 TPI iroc but I know the harness will work with the intake. What i am doing is swapping the heads and intake onto my 355. I just need the hole made, I still wanna run everything thats on my tpi on my swap. So i think just the hole needs to be made along with the fuel rails, I can port out the TB and ports myself or my friend who has been doing it for years. Anyone know what else you need for the swap? Give me a price on a completed intake with what I need and a check will be sent out when its done. including how much for the intake and the work. thanks
Re: LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
The thing is you have to remember with the LT1 is that its a reverse coolent system so no coolent flows to the top of the intake nor is there any accomidations for a thermostat. The other problem is the bolt patern is different. If I just did the Distributor hole you would still have a bunch of work to do to it before you can affix it to your engine, unless you have a 355 LT1 small block then I can do a distributor hole and 5 degree for you. I would not be able to supply a intake with just a distributor hole because I have already done a lot of other work to my inventory.

Re: LT1 Intake Converted to replace TPI Intake
I remove it because of clearence issues with the distributor and you can run the coolent hoses across. It also opens up the EGR port that goes down the center of the intake, It doubles as an air gap. I cookie cutter certain things to save money and removing the EGR casting is all done by my machinest buddy at a realy good price. I only did it to my inventory, if anyone wanted an intake they provide (just for rear distributor modification ONLY), removel of the EGR casting is an option.

I have here 18 1994 - 1997 and 2 1993 LT1 Intakes modified to replace the TPI intake. This upgrade is cheaper then buying upgrades for the TPI. The LT1 has a RPM range from Idle to 6000 RPM, unlike the TPI which levels off at 4000 RPM, (even after upgrades). There is a list of helpful sites on the bottom of this thread.
I’m offering each intake for $440.00 plus shipping (do to the rising costs and the high cost of the remote thermostats, I had to increase the price by $40). Here is a list of what comes with it.
- Modified intake
- Fuel rails with retaining clips and blots
- Rear ¾ coolant nipples
- Remote thermostat
- Modified 1993 Throttle bracket with bolts
- Windage tray with bolts
- MAP bolts or MAP hole sealed
- sandblasted http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...55a8641eb4.jpg
OPTIONS
(B)Post 1987 intake
(C)Intake core for JUST an intake and remote thermostat -$110
(D)Intake core for JUST an intake, remote thermostat and throttle bracket -$100
(E)Bore the throttle bores to 60mm http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...f84a4ad4a2.jpg
(F)Bore air gap http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...9f57162106.jpg
(G)No epoxy fill for exhaust cross over ports -$5 http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...703a76d8fb.jpg
(H)Plug up MAP hole
(I)Convert fuel rails to AN-6 series +$30
(J)Convert fuel rails to AN-8 series +$30
(K)Convert fuel rails to AN-6 Parallel +$40
(L)Convert fuel rails to AN-8 Parallel +$40
(M) Convert fuel rails to AN-6 on back and AN-8 front Parallel +$40
With the fuel rails you must specify what position you want the fittings to be in the front.
(M)I have 2 1993 intakes, so for those guys that want the parallel AN fittings fuel rails, I hope you don’t mind that I give you these intakes. I can tell you that the 1993 fuel rails are a thicker casting then the post 1994 fuel rails http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...c69a4c3a97.jpg
For the intake core, if you send me a 1993 intake then I will send you back a modded 1993 intake, if I run out I will send you back your 1993 intake. They are great intakes but for some reason GM used a harder aluminum and that makes them hard to work on. They are also not that versatile to sell unlike its 1994 – 1997 counter parts.
This is a first come first serve basis after payment. It could take 2 weeks or more after payment depending on modifications added.
If you have any questions my cell is 410 322 4580 if I don’t answer please leave a message or email aholzhaus69@hotmail.com subject “lt1 intake”. I will accept money order, personal check (I wont ship until the check clears) or paypal with 3% fee ( I charge a 3% paypal fee, because my prices are low already, that I can’t afford to give paypal any of it.)
I will not modify your intake, because I do these in batches and it would take to long to mod individual intakes. I do not guarantee any rubber seals or the original pressure regulator. I do guarantee my craftsmanship, so if you have a problem, please contact me first so we can fix the problem, if its to bad I will give you a refund (after I get it back) plus the cost of the shipping to you.
