What is the comp Part number? (Should be stamped on the end of the cam.) Is there any damage or wear in either the lobes, journals or distributor gear?
What about the lifters?

this cam is too big for stock heads, you need either 986 or 987 springs 981 are to weak, cam is also WAY to big for a 305 with stock heads, the heads will not allow the cam to work to it full potential, to make power your xcam heads and intake need to be matched. id look for something around .470 or .480 lift
