Ford 9 " rear

I picked this rear up a few years ago with the intention of having it built. The car I just bought has a 9" in it so I no longer need/want the one I have. I have the rear apart, the axles are pulled and the center section was pulled from the housing. It is a drum brake set up. $175.00/negotiable. I can and will get pics of it possibly over the weekend, I am getting hit with a winter storm right now and the rear is at my dads house about 1/2 hour from me so please be patient. Also please don't waste my time or board space offering me something like $50.

Honestly I am not sure. As I said above I have a 9" in a 91 Z I just bought so when the snow clears a little I could climb under my car and get a measurement and then measure what I have. This rear is pending sale though, I am waiting for someone to get back to me. I will keep you guys posted.

Re: Ford 9 " rear

I haven't heard from the guy that said he was taking it. I should have checked ebay before I posted this ad, they are going for more then I ask. If he doesn't take it I am probably raising the price to between $200 and $225 which is still a pretty good price. If the guy who wants it doesn't get back to me by the weekend if someone wants it they can have it.

Re: Ford 9 " rear

Yeah I raised the price. Why shouldn't I get what I paid for it atleast when it has been sitting inside unlike the rears selling on ebay. Torn apart ? We are talking like 17 or so nuts and bolts to attach the center section to the housing and put the axles in. And no I didn't get pics of it yet because I work pretty many hours during the week.

Re: Ford 9 " rear

Its just not good to raise the price, period. It might not sell on that aspect alone.

BUT good luck with it. Too steep for my blood now.

First of all you offered to drive here to pick it up on my busiest day of the week with stuff I have to take care of that I can't get done during the week such as feeding my reptile collection. I am willing to ship it to you. And again, these things for a bone stock rear not modified for a third gen are going for atleast $75.00 more then I am now asking on ebay. Reality sank in, I paid $225 for this thing. Now it looks like I will have to ship it which is more of my time used up making a crate to ship it in. That means I have to buy atleast one sheet of plywood at about $20.00, screws, and give my buddy some gas money to haul that stuff for me in his truck since I have a Jeep and it won't fit in the back. He lives a hour away from me. So right there I have about $50 wrapped up in just shipping it to someone. Sorry, but as it stands if I sell it for $225 I still only get $175 out of it and lose $50 over what I paid. I am not in the market to lose $100 on this thing and a good amount of my time.

There is another one posted on here for $225 Canadian if you guys are interested, maybe he can ship that rear to you. It is on page 3.

Re: Ford 9 " rear

Did you get measurement and pics? The difference on ebay is the sellers post pictures and specs. Traveling to get somthing unseen/unknown can be risky for buyers. If you watch the ebay auctions they arent selling either. If you post pics and specs you might be in better shape. Ive been watching this tread since day one and I still dont know what gear ratios this rear has.

Re: Ford 9 " rear

92rs - 2 posts above your last post I said I didn't get pics yet. I have pics of the center section but not the housing. If I have a chance this weekend I will put it mostly back together except for the brakes and take a few pics. On ebay I saw a few ads for 9" rears with measurements mentioned and they were all from the same guy, nobody else said anything about measurements, they just said what they came out of. I bought my Camaro unseen as I didn't go to look at it and paid a good amount for it. The only thing I saw of it was pics posted on here and a few the guy I bought it from sent me. I am totally happy with the car. I knew I wasn't getting screwed from talking to the guy. I am not out to screw anyone or sell them junk. As for the gears I don't know what is in it. I tried to find out last weekend by another guy I bought parts from and he couldn't find it listed in the book he looked in. Personally I don't see why anbody would want to just put this rear in their car right away. Minimum it is probably going to have to be cut and it will definately need a TA mount welded to it and the spring brackets relocated. If you have the cash you might as well build the center section and throw some good axles into it with a posi or spool depending on what you want to use it for after going through the rest of it. Like I said though, I am not trying to lose my *** on this thing and waste a bunch of time to do all this stuff for it not to sell. Taking a few pics isn't much but assembling it again and crawling under my car and all that gets tedious when I have a lot to do.

Re: Ford 9 " rear

I didn't get to put it together and won't have time to this weekend but I got pics of everything except for the actual drums, I would have to dig them out. I don't even know if anyone would actually want them any way. They are rusted and I would throw disk brakes on it any way. Here are the pics. The center section has some surface rust on it from sitting at the performance shop for 2 or 3 years but the housing has minimal rust and looks better then anything I saw on ebay in this price range. It will be on here for a few more days then after that it is off to ebay.
