If it came out of a 3rd Gen F-body and you want to put it into a 3rd Gen F-Body it's just the same as replacing: shocks, springs, LCA's, and brake lines. If you can do that you can swap a rear end. Not the hardest thing imho.

Are the brake lines different from my drum 88 10bolt? This came out of a 89 GTA

If it is out of an 89, it would have PBR brakes which are way better then your drums. Tell your father it would be safer and you want to put it in!

I was able to swap out my drum 10 bolt for my disk 9 bolt in a single day. And that included giving the paint on the 9 bolt a chance to dry. I put a coat of paint on before I went to school, then came home, swapped rears, bled the brakes and went to school the next day with what felt like a new car. As long as you have access to a torque wrench, a breaker bar, metric socket set, a way to bleed the brakes, and you understand the "lefty loosy, righty tighty" concept you'll be fine. Oh, jack stands are a must as well and some PB Blaster or other penetrating stuff may be needed.
I'm still in high school too, so I have some experience working on cars but not all that much.

Upgrading to rear disks will help you slow down smoother and faster, plus 4wheel disk just looks sweet.

Brake lines are the same.
You should also change the speedo gears in your transmission so your speedo will be accurate with the new gear ratio. It isn't necessry, it is just nice knowing exactly how fast your going.

I convinced him to let me do it under his supervision, he thought more things were different then my 10 bolt. I have access to just about every tool I'll ever need (hes been mechanic since he was young and have quite a collection of tools and knowledge)
The rear is no longer for sale.

Yup, the ebrake cables are different. I still have to get some for my rear unless I find a 98-02 rear end first. lol
