Re: LT1 Cam
pardon my pessimism but i always thought only Fbodies came with that grind and the Bbody cam was somewhat smaller, say 430/440ish... correct me if im wrong, just curious

Re: LT1 Cam
From 85 to 86, the grind got smaller which lowered HP but torque increased. The LT1 has a higher lift than the 87 and up 350 IROC's. The LT1 has even a much higher lift than the 87 350 and up. The lift is still within specs of the ECM which vacuum is not affected.

Re: LT1 Cam
i assume you mean 95/96? 93 the specs were 450/460 with the short dowel... all after that were 447/459 with the long dowel, duration was the same but this was the Fbody cam... the Bbody cam was smaller, still larger then an L98 cam but with the L98 cam at 401/415 lift thats not that hard... of course the duration is short because of the FI... my point was that the Bbody cam is smaller then the OP's claim of 447/459, but again i COULD be wrong, i just doubt it

Re: LT1 Cam
1985 IROC had a larger cam than the 1986 cam. I think the OEM 86 cam was called the "peanut cam". The loing dowel pin can easily grinded down. The MAJOR difference between the L98 is that the L98 of course has a small lift than the LT1, but the L98 has a front lobe for a engine mounted fuel pump while the L98 has no front lobe.

Re: LT1 Cam
85 iroc had the L98 cam in a 5.0L... but again what im saying is a "Bbody" has a smaller cam then an "Fbody" with an LT1 nothing to do with the TPI engines... his cam came from a 94 caprice

Re: LT1 Cam
Is it the L98 cam. I knew it was bigger than the 86 305.

Re: LT1 Cam
Yup. i mean you got the L98 and the 5 spd which has no los because there is no torque converter. funny how you can have the same exact engine but having a auto or manual would make the differnce in HP.

No kidding. Imagine the jump in HP with that L98 and 5 spd.

Re: LT1 Cam
Do you still have this? I show that the spec's you illustrated are for the LT1 cam that was in the 95-97 Vette. At least that's what my GM parts guy says.

Re: LT1 Cam
OK - my parts guy will be back in tomorrow morning. I will quiz him to see if he can cross reference the stamping to a part number and/or spec. Thanks.
