Selling the cable drive converted tail housing from my old T56. Would like to trade complete tailhousings with someone +$150.

 

Does this tailshaft have mechanical and electrical speedos? How hard is it to swap the tail shaft on a t56?

 

It only has a mechanical drive now. I have a 2 piece speedo cable that I installed a VSS as the joint for the cables. I'm including this. That way I had both electronic and cable outputs. tail housing is easy to remove. support the trans, remove the shifter, remove the shifter cup from the shift rail, remove the trans mount, unplug any harness's from tailhousing. then unbolt the tail housing from the trans. you would need to remove one snap ring from the tailshaft so the VSS ring can be swapped with the new speedo gear.

 

How soon are you wanting to get this done? I'd like to swap, but I won't be home for a couple more weeks.

 

Not sure if it's still for sale. A buddy of mine wants it for his 70 Chevelle. I'll update this thread as soon as I know
