My shifter cable broke, does anyone have an extra in good shape or the GM part number for a new one? It for an 86 Trans Am.

The cable is in good working condition - but the rubber "boot" is ripped. I've got 4 of them like that ! LMK

Go buy a new one from your local GM parts dealership. It might be pricey but I think its worth it. The used one that I bought from a salvage yard lasted 15 miles.

Nope, the local one told me $38 (I know what the website says, didn't matter), and I want a decent quality piece not some junk aftermarket stuff like alot of there other parts.

I asked for the part number so I can order online because the closest GM dealership involves me taking a commuter train to get to- that's a wonderful 2 hour trip for a cable I can try to get online.

 

Inless your Local Chevy dealership is totally incom. You should be able to just call them & tell them what you need & they can look it up on the computer, with out needing a part number. If its a Pontiac Dealership then call the local Chevy dealership.

They sell them & they are a great source. Just tell them what you have & they will make sure you get it.

 

I hope they have it, I didn't see GM shifter cables on there.

Then why do they have B&M shifters (and cables) on there. Like I said- there's no GM shifter cables and they didn't respond to my email asking them so.
