I don't know how far you are in your build but if you haven't purchased your crankshaft yet, you might seriously consider purchasing an internally balanced 400 crankshaft like the ones from Eagle or Scat. This will allow you to use the Centerline internally balanced 2 piece flywheel for T56 applications. You can find these used if your patient. Otherwise, I don't know of any 2 piece external flywheel. Everyone I know needing a T56 flywheel external balanced is using an adapter plate with a internally balanced flywheel. These plates are not recommended for high performance use.

Ok...that's pretty cool. When I was doing my swap that flywheel was not available. I noticed it's the same weight as my flywheel.

Be warned that these flywheels are heavy. Not a big concern with a 400 SBC but I built a high revving short stroke motor and I was disappointed with the weight of the flywheel as compared to the T5 I had with a GM lightweight flywheel (15lbs).

it would be interesting in finding all the formula's required to work something like that out. If this piece is perfectly centered remember that gravity plays an effect as well. I'll keep my eyes open for a lighter weight one, or see how much of a different the LT1's weight. Everything helps of course.

Let me know if you find one. I might also be interested in a lighter unit. I had a 1985 IROC with the destroked 400. It was a 400 block with 6.25" lightweight rods, JE lightweight pistons and a large journal 327 crankshaft. Everything was optimized for a quick revving motor. I had a 1LE aluminum driveshaft and lightweight wheels. I used a GM lightweight flywheel in front of built T5. I should have left well enough alone because the car was a rocket. But I had to have the extra gear because I was running a 4:10 rear. The heavy Centerline flywheel slowed things down noticeably.

I have a slightly used spec stage 3 clutch and an lt1 flywheel both have less than 6,000 mi. How does 200 plus shipping sound???
