Re: Looking for Vortec Heads

I interested in the vortec heads.
Have these ever been installed and run?
Why are you selling them? i.e. damaged? etc.
Are they good for .550 lift?
Thanks,

Re: Looking for Vortec Heads

these heads have never been run they are new from gm then to the machine shop. they were built for an intended street car but i went a different way with the car so the heads sat for a while i have spent a ton of cash on them and will perform as such. the valve springs are GM hot springs which are rated at 525 lift, the valves are 26.00 ea for the intake 20.00 for the ex. from gm alone. this price is 1/2 of what it cost to build.

Re: Looking for Vortec Heads

Buy them new from Engine Quest, roughly $200 ea. Got mine from T & P Automotive in Texas. Don't need all the modifications to run high lift cam. Had 180 cc intake runners. Call them 210-224-0886, late afternoon or evening. Ask for Barney, he will ship them also.

Re: Looking for Vortec Heads

I got a PM about the heads I bought so thought I'd list some features. They cc'd at between 180 and 185 on the intakes and around 73-74 on the exhausts. Came ready for screw-in studs and 1.25 or 1.44 springs, and high lift cams. Flowed at .100/.200/.300/.400/.500/.550/.600 the following 57.2/117.8/175.9/212.8/227.8/230.1/233.4 on the intake out of the box. For the exhaust 31.9/106.7/133.8/143.8/147.1/147.4/147.9. I also bought Dart Vortecs and these look and flow better. The price can't be beat. Used Summit valves for these tests 1.94/1.50. Just built a carbed 383 with the Darts and the Engine Quests will go on a TPI 383 at the end of this year.
