Re: t56 for swap needed

I'm looking for stock parts not planning on upgrading the clutch or flywheel unless it needs it.
I'm looking at just taking all my parts from a 4th gen.
just looking to do this
http://www.skulte.com/T56.html

if I spend a little more than a grand on the swap it will be ok
but if I spend more than $2k total, I would be better off buying a good running 4th gen with a newer engine and lower mileage and saying heck with the swap.

I have had friends do this swap cheaper but I just need to locate a donor car or transmission priced at market value. (ie not paying 2k for a used transmission)
if I want to spend that much I would buy a new zero mileage one from jegs

Re: t56 for swap needed

yeah you should be able to find a trans only for 800-1000 but you need a clutch, slave cylinder, pedals flywheel crossmember and shifter and mine is all stock believe it or not have better luck w/a stock clutch rather than performance
clutch $219
flywheel $105
master cylinder $50
slave Cylinder $50
shifter $220
Crossmember $200
bell housing $150
$1100 plus a trans
pedals n???
its gonna cost you bout 2g's no matter what if you want it you can ahve my complete set up for 2g's right out the car or the whole car is for sale its a 12sec daily driver

Re: t56 for swap needed

I know I can do the swap cheaper by finding a wreaked 4th gen part car.
Thanks anyway

if anyone else has any location of a donor or parts let me know thanks.
Anyone see a wreaked one in a salvage yard near western MD?
I'm looking for one with some miles left on it.

good luck on spending less the 1000 bucks. If your using an older style 2 peice rear main seal, your going to have to drop 375-400 just on the converson flywheel. Junkyards wont sell a t56 cheap, just because thats one of the most popular trans swaps, and they know it.

Heres a breakdown of mine:
ram clutch aluminim flywheel 400
spec stage 3 clutch 500
GM master and slave with braided line 160
transmission 600 - lasted me about 400 miles before it lost reverse, then dropped 1600 on a rockland gear unit.

I bought a spohn crossmember and torque arm, but sopposidly stock ones will work.

I got the pedals for 75, you can buy the electrical pigs tails off ebay way cheaper the GM, and they fit fine.

Re: t56 for swap needed

I have a decent T56 with bellhousing stock shifter stalk (no handle) lower boot and hydraulics. $850/ALL

GM no longer sells these geta good used one while you can.

Bellhousings go for 3-400 on Ebay I was shocked lol.

ANyway if youre interested shoot me a pm.

just on the converson flywheel. Junkyards wont sell a t56 cheap, just because thats one of the most popular trans swaps, and they know it.
Plus GM discontinued them early last yr
