Re: 36mm Front Sway Bar
I did make a measure of the circumference on the bar and calculated the diameter...came out to 35.4mm. The engineers at GM might have had a 35.5mm and rounded to a posted "36mm"...rounding is a common practice.
I checked my two 87s and wrapped the same tape around them and they are the same. I used a piece of masking tape and cut at the exact length...then took that number and divided by pie (3.14)...that's where I got the 35.4mm
I guess I'm saying a 36mm is stock on at least 86 & 87 IROC-Zs

Hum. According to Hollander (524-111E front), Camaros didn't have the 36 mm until 89; Birds had them as early as 86.

Re: 36mm Front Sway Bar
Also, the 36mm bar, since it's hollow, will have a small hole near where each end link attaches. I've heard there's a similar 34mm bar.

Re: 36mm Front Sway Bar
I suppose the tape wrapped around the bar could be a few mils off...that's a little less than an 1/8"....will do some digging...although we are really talking 2mm..

Re: 36mm Front Sway Bar
My 87 IROC had a 34mm solid; 89 TA and GTA had 36mm hollow.
OP: I have one if you really want it, but shipping would not be cheap.

Re: 36mm Front Sway Bar
If you don't have calipers to measure the diameter use an adjustable wrench and set the jaws to the width of a straight part of the bar and measure the gap. Easier and more accurate than tape and calculations. I got a 36mm front and 24mm rear bar from ThirdGen Ranch and the shipping was more than the bars!
