97 9 bolt parking brake parts
97 9 bolt parking brake parts
EDIT: 87 9 bolt not 97! Typo!
Hello all,
I'm using a 3.42 posi disc 9 bolt rear from an 87 GTA in my street rod.
I have all new parts on it including calipers rotors, pads, etc, etc.
BUT as i have been piecing this together from different places, i don't have the brackets that bolt to the caliper, the lever with the counterweight that moves, or the spring between them, to operate the parking brakes.
From what i read, i can't do a brake upgrade to a different type because i'm going to be using 15" wheels, and i know this 3rd gen pre-89 brake setup fits in 15's as that's what i have on the project to move it around.
Message or email me here, or cortcomp at gmail dot com...much appreciated!

Re: 97 9 bolt parking brake parts
i just bought a pass side rear caliper from napa, and it came assembled with the counter weight and spring. the iron calipers or delco moraine def fit a 15 in rim.
Re: 97 9 bolt parking brake parts
Unfortunately i bought these so long ago that i can't return them, and they're new and didn't come with parking brake gear. These are iron calipers and fit, i don't know which car the delco moraine fit, or what year. I see a lot of guys here upgrade to the 89 rear disc brakes, but i don't think the larger aluminum PBR or whatever calipers will fit in my 15s. I'd also hate to spend more money on a disc conversion kit when all i need are the 2 levers, brackets and springs, when i think this 87 disc setup will work great for me, especially with all being new.

contacts hawks. tell them what you need. thats who i got my 9 bolt thru. Im sure that they have a junk one you can get parts from. ask about a tgo discount.
not a 100% sure but 85-88 got the iron calipers. 89- up got the pbr's. someone will jump in with the exact info.
ive read on here how bad the iron calipers are. i personally have had great luck with them. i went with a ceramic pad and new cross drilled rotors when i put the rear in.

if you use the 93-7 aluminum caliper you may get it to fit w/out sanding fins.
I use them with 15x8 weld wheels on my stock rotor 11.7rotor 89 formula.
I just had to sand the fins a very lil bit for clearance.
ditch those iron calipers. kinda poopy

Who is this hawks you speak of? EDIT: Found them and emailed them, thanks!
If i didn't have all new everything, i likely would buy new parts and upgrade, but i hate to do that since i also need to drop some cash in changing the only not new parts: center section. it'll be 500+ for new cones, bearings, etc, etc. but i want to do it right and be done the first time.
Also, most street rods are running rear drum for cheapness or simplicity, i would think these disc would stop better than most basic S-10 drums or what not. Plus, with an adjustable proportioning valve, i can put the pressure to the calipers if they don't perform how i want. I'm going to try these out first.
But hey, if they do suck that bad, i can upgrade and sell my like new parts to someone who wants all new iron brakes for a deal right?

i can half-way help you out. I have 1, spring, bracket, torx-head bolt.
Re: 97 9 bolt parking brake parts
