L98 short or long block wanted
Looking for a rebuild-able L98 roller block. Don't want to drive too far, so within and hour or two from Pittsburgh if you one available.
Re: L98 short or long block wanted
I have an 89 350 roller block, bored .030 and honed with torque plates, 2 bolt main. I'm just south of Cleveland. Let me know if you're interested.

Just the block? Or does it have the rotating assembly (crank, cam, rods, pistons)

Has it ever had a rotating assembly in it since it was honed & bored?

Yeah, the reason I took it out was because I built a more capable bottom end for more boost and needed a 4 bolt block. It had low miles on it and the cylinders are in great shape.

Think it would be ok with new internals or would you have it gone through again?
Re: L98 short or long block wanted
I was saving it for a "future" aka never gonna happen build because it's in great shape. I would run a flex hone down each bore just to give it a new crosshatch for your new rings and I would recommend a line hone of the mains. The only reason I say that is because when I did take it apart I noticed some weird bearing wear. If I remember correctly I think I even swapped the main bolts to studs.

Yeah, and maybe new cam bearings since you don't have the cam that rode on those bearings. I'll think about that. I'm just looking to do a pretty basic stock build to replace the worn out 305 in my car. I was hoping to just find a complete short block that I could freshen up.

Only other question I can think of is...was the block every decked?
Re: L98 short or long block wanted
That's a good question...yes it was when all the other work was done. The machinist took off just enough to square it up. I can't remember how much but it was very little because I didn't want him to go crazy. All the machine work was done by Victory Racing Engines here in Cleveland.
