Saphmeresis...you didn't toss the fuel pump and sender did you? Or did you buy new.

From what I heard, your best bet would be to go to the salvage yard and pick up a original one and clean it all up in and out.
The aftermarket ones don't seem to fit that well.

I have one without the su, has some rust inside but nothing that can't be cleaned out. I drove the car around for a while as is, no problems. No punctures or other damage.
mostly it's on the front bottom part of the tank, looks like it sat with like a gallon in at one point in its life

I can indeed, its actually still on the car (my 85 parts car), I leave for vacation on Dec 21st, as long as its before then, I'll hold it.
To be clear, the rust on mine is internal, not external

If its bad enough that you didnt even want to turn it over then..yikes.. mine needed its filter changed out a bit more frequent than usual, but that's about it. Mostly due to just needing cleaned out, which I never dropped the tank/was lazy. I'll try and get some pics this weekend for ya

Re: WTB gas tank from a 85-92 camaro-firebird

Wait till you find out how much it will cost you to ship that tank!
Remember, the filler pipe is attached. It takes a big box to fit.
Best way to get a tank is a parts car or someone parting third gens. You may find that some of the better JY are aware of the value of an old rank and didn't puncture it.
Dont be afraid of some surface rust or small leaks. The tanks can be reconditioned and will be waaaaaaaay better than the aftermarket replacement.
