All exterior dimensions are the same. Starter, waterpump, alternator, pretty much anything you can see when you lift the hood.

If that's a "marine" 350 it should have some good HD parts in it,a 4 bolt block and maybe even a forged crank and pistons.Check it out,

One thing you have to watch out for is that MOST (not all) marine 350's were reverse rotation. Meaning that a 350 out of a car rotates clockwise if you stand in front of it looking at it while it's running. Marine motors spin counter-clockwise. That's because of the standard prop rotational direction.

Try and find that out first.

is this a 65' caddy fleetwood "boat" or a marine boat we're talking about here?

I'm about 99% positive that the only reverse rotation motors were only made in big block form and I don't think that those are even made anymore, I think the reverse rotation needed is acheived in the gear case now. But I took the motor out of my boat a couple months of and put it in my car. Your accessory brackets should all swap over, including your water pump and thermo housing. I would verify whether it is a one piece or two piece rear main. Mine is a 92 motor with a 2 piece rear main so I had to get a new flexplate.

You have a '92 block that has a 2pc. rear main seal? Is it a GM?

And you may be correct about the gear box, but ANY Volvo marine engine that was a V8 was a SBC that was simply reverse rotation. But those were mass procuced. Most custom boats did/do have big blocks, and were just regular car/truck motors.

It still wouldn't hurt to check though.

Yes, it's a GM 350 crate motor.
