305 tpi to 350 tpi

I have an 86 z28 with a 305 tpi. the block is cracked and have decided just to buy a new 350 tpi. Will the engine just slip right in or will i have to make any modifications?

We're in the same boat!

A 305 and a 350 Block are essentially the same size. You shouldn't have any problems interchanging the two.

We're in the same boat! I'm currently looking into swapping the engine in my 1986 IROC (305 --> 350). The only problem with my swap is finding the right 350 for the right price. Engines are not cheap, my friend! I'd recommend shopping around. You might stumble upon a great deal..... and if you do, let me know!

the main thing i am worrying about is all the little sensors. are there many differances between the two. i was told i would have to get 22 lb. injectors, is there anything else?

I Just finished my engine swap. I've got a 90 formula with the map sensor system instead of mass air flow. I have the factory semi dual exhaust with twin cats and the 5.0, 5 speed. My car has been amazingly fast since I have owned it but when the engine blew I hand built my own 5.7 with a factory GM performance products cam and since it's no longer my daily driver, I raised the compression to 11.0 to 1 anyway, to make a long story short... I used everything that my car came with stock. That's all it's ever had..Sensers, Injectors, prom.... all stock.... Motors just breaking in... but i can feel the diffrence.

I use to roll on the throttle in 5th at 70 mph and it pulled hard. Now I roll on the throttle at 70 and it hits triple digits in a heartbeat. I hav'nt put the hammer down on her yet but I can tell she's much faster than it was. So.. Everything works with O.E.M. stuff..... would bigger injector's make it go faster.. Probley.. diffrent knock sensor ? Not exactly sure why that would need to be changed but I hear that it does.. mines the same O.E. stuff that it came with and it's killer...
