Buick Gn Swap
Has any one ever installed a GN motor in their 3rd gen T-a?
I'm trying to find out what all is involved in the swap. What will I have to buy to complete the swap?
Thanks in advance for any response.

I got a question - Is it worth it??
I'm just debating to do such a swap in my 1987 TA. Everyone is trying to talk me out of it, but I cant ressist! I really want to do this swap!
The write up is very helpful indeed.

Not on this thread, but a few others on other boards are just saying the cost just doesnt justify it.
Its real easy to just find a used LS1 (and tranny) at Billy Grahams, buy the harness do a nice rebuild w/ heads and cam and then I got over 400 RWHP.
Its more of a challange to do the Turbo Buick swap I guess.
Some responses I got was since I already got the harness, since my car is already a TPI, just build up off that. I'm not that impressed with the cost per performance you get out of the TPI (sorry....).
Honestly, I have a pretty nice V8 with my LT1 in my 95 TA. And evey one out here, and in my club has LS1s. My wife drives a GTP w/ the supercharged 3.8 V6 and Im impressed with that motor. Especially with how easy it is to build up and get even more power...
I guess I'm tired of my V8, and want something different. A boosted V6 motor just seems like it would be fun to tinker with. Play with boost levels, intercoolers, etc, etc. Can't do much with an N/A V8, LOL.....
So if I go forward with this move to a turbo buick, want to give me some encouragement along the way! hehehe....
I just typed in the part # for the harness (Turbo TA wiring harness) at www.gmpartsdirect.com and found its like the same price as they LS1 to third gen harness. So no big difference there.
Now finding a 1987 GN motor is a little more difficult. Did find one for like $2500. I'm sure I'd want to rebuild her. I also have to rebuild my tranny in the car too. Thats why the car's been dry docked for the last three years.
What kinda mods to I / would I want to do to the motor once the swap is complete - and I have a stock turbo buick under the hood??
Just wondering.
Thanks,
