Hello, i was wondering if i would need to put silicon on with the head gaskets? I took off the heads from my fastburn crate motor to put the hot cam in and now it is time to assemble everything! I was wondering if there is any difference between aluminum and cast iron heads? I got the stock replacement head gaskets. Thanks

 

99.9% of the time you don't put anything on the head gaskets.

Thanks AJ. I tried to call Scoggin-Dickey since that is where i got the motor from but they were closed and is is tough to call during the week with work. I'm still trying to get a definate answer though you are probally right! thanks

 

you need gaskets made for aluminum heads on a cast iron block because of the differant thermal rates of each. i use k&w copper spray sealer on head gaskets.

 

Also dont forget to use some thread sealant on the head bolts too.
