suggestions needed for 85 z28

im gonna buy an 85 z28, and plan to do some MAJOR work on it, i'm looking for trans. engine. and exhaust suggestions...

carb or tpi?

lets not break the bank either, i'm a first timer, looking to have a nice kick "a!!" car, i have plenty of time on my hands as well...

Im in about the same boat you are, cept ive already got the car. If youve got the money to go with the time, crate engines seem to be the way to go. Carbed, cause its simpler(my opinion). Your best bet would be to read as much as you can find with a search(its alot). Spend enough time on here and you should be able to get enough good ideas. Good luck with the new ride

If you don't want to break the bank, then you should find a nice short block somewhere and put some nice parts into the top end. This would probably be cheaper than getting a crate motor.

thanks for the comments, i decided the engine i'm gonna go with, of course this is for the time being i might hit the lottery and rebuild cars until i die, but im gonna get the
LS1 or LS6 Corvette Bare Block?

im still reading about it, but it sounds nice so far

And that won't break your bank?

You're talking about more just for the engine than I've got in my entire car, and you can probably throw in a couple of years' worth of insurance and gas as well. After that is the headache of actually getting it into the car, and after that the headache of actually getting it to run.

Your piggy must be a lot fatter than my piggy. But then, mine feeds 5...

no, my bank isn't big, im 17 and have no mouths to feed and live at home, going away to college, smart with the stock market, and decent internship w/ pay,im making out well for 17, the ls1 is 1700..and i have 4 years to build this car before i'd want to use it

so i have time as well as patience...any suggestions or just sorrows?

My only suggestion is use the time wisely. Im to the point now where ive got the money...just no time. Do what you can, and good luck.

i ment for the tranny dirty rob, i know nothing about trans. i know i want manual that is all i know, im not looking for BLAZING speed, but i want to be able to beat those **** with civics and my explorer ain't cuttin it...
