LT1 cam

Is there a such thing as a GM hot cam kit? Is it the same as the LT4 cam kit, if there is one? If so, whats so good about it?

The great thing about the GM hotcam kit is the price. The cam and springs com as a complete packege. The LT4 Hot cam will work in your LT1 however I would make sure that the rocker arm ratios between the LT1 and LT4 are not significantly different.

You may also want to consider a COMP CAM Extreme Energy cam with hardened pushrods and 918 springs. This will be more pricy than the hotcam setup, but a better solution in my opinion.

As with any cam swap you must recalibrate your PCM to get optimal performance.

The LT4 Hot Cam kit comes with 1.6 roller rockers.

go to www.sdpc2000.com, they have a lot of cams there... just go to engine components on the side bar n follow through till u get what you need... their catalog spreads it out a little more easier than their site in my opinion though, so its easier to compare hehe

I had the HOT cam in my 96 WS6. It was a great all around cam. I passed the IM240 emissions test. Got 20+mpg all the time. And the car ran a best of 12.4@111.

There are plenty of cams that will outpower it but few that are as "stockish" as this one is.

Something to note, the LT4 hotcam springs will not fit in your iron heads without opening up the spring seats. You can get aftermarket equivalents that will fit in there without the machining.

The LT4 hot cam is 'larger' than the lt4 regular cam, hence the hot.

Here's a basic web page of my old car:

http://users.adelphia.net/~tta1387/cars/ws6.htm

It has all the mods that were done to the car.
