305 stroker

Hello

Can anybody answer me if there is any 305 stroker out there on the market and what performance it gives. I`ve searched in summit and jegs but to no avail.

Thanks!

If you need just a kit, see www.enginekits.com. also do a search on this subject, this has been gone over many times. For about the same money you could get a 350 and stroke it to a 383.
Good luck!

You can stroke it, but it's not worth your time or money. If you really want to stroke something, do it on a 350. Performance wise a 331 (I think that's what it comes out to) doesn't do well. You can have 50 more cubes with a 383 than a 331. Remember there's not replacement for displacement.

I don`t have money for 350 , in my country it`s hard to get one, besides my 5,0 is quite modded and I think it would spank some 350 tpi ***!
If the stroker would give me at least 50 hp it`s worth it.
Then I switch from tbi to tpi and be in around 330+ hp powerband.
Thinking of vortech supercharger...

At most you may get 25 HP out of a 335 stroker vs. a 305 with the same mods other than the stroke increase.

You're better off spending your money on things that actually improve a 305 - heads, cam, exhaust, TPI, supercharger. In the States, the stroker kit is $600, plus another $200 for the externally-balanced flexplate and damper you'll need, plus shipping. Plus the machine work to get the stroker to fit in the block, and probably a different starter. All that, without the heads, cam, and exhaust, would be an absolute waste of time and money.

Do you really think it would cost more than the $800 US plus overseas shipping to find a 350 where you are? You'd be better off getting a shortblock kit from one of the speed catalogs like PAW, than spending the money on a 335 stroker kit.

according to powerhouse (www.enginekits.com) their stroker kit whick costs 600 dollars gave 95 more horses to a carbed car and 115 to a car with fuel injection. even after labor and everything, that sounds like a damn good deal. Some magazine even tested it and backed up the companies claims.

maybe you should try and find the march 99 issue of super chevy, they tested the kit, maybe u can see what kind of combo they used to get that crazy HP

There's no possible way that you can gain 95-115hp by adding a measly 25 cubic inches. It's just not possible. Other mods would have to be done such as new heads, big cam, single plane intake, etc. to even come close to those outrageous claims (and this is a 305, remember they don't respond as well to mods as say a 350). Not to mention that a carb should make close to if not more power than fuel injection. Apparently if there is a 20hp diffence between carb and f.i. then they don't know how to tune a carb correctly. Anyways, to my point... If you have to replace everything in the motor to acheive that power (rotating assembly, heads, intake, etc.), you might as well build a 350 which is a much better motor to start off with and while you're at it you might as well stroke it to a 383. It will cost about the same and you will have gobs more power.

There are alot of little white lies in that "95 HP" claim... you may have noticed that they changed the heads, cam, and exhaust too, and maybe the intake and carb; and then compared it to a stock LG4. And they're trying to get people to believe that their "stroker kit" is where the 95 HP came from.

Liars.

Don't do that to your 305. By the time you actually get it running, you will have more money tied up in it than if you shipped a 350 over there; and you'll have 5 times the aggravtaion too; and still go slower.
