Not sure what a limited slip converter is. Since you are considering a 305/350, why do you want a non-overdrive transmission? And why a th400? Do a search before asking, this has been done many times.

maybe it is easier nowadays to just post something new instead of searching...
but anyway, why the 400? if it is an all out drag car or sees limited duty, go with a 3 speed, but use a th350. lighter, less power to turn it. if it is a street car get the overdrive.

I concur with the transmission assesment. I do not think that you are considering an all out drag car with a 305, tho, are you? I would suggest a built 700r4, overdrive is incredibly nice to have. Especially with gears. Just a suggestion.

hanks guy ive reconsidered my transmision selection and have decided to go with the 700r4 tranny.... now one thing im worried about is motor mount.... now i know i have to replace the engine part of the mounts but what about the frame part of the mounts and is there any frame modifications that have to be done.... i.e welding cutting or others

Limited slip torque converter?... Does he mean a limited-slip rear-end?
Now I'm all confused....

get the mounts for a v-8 from a parts store and put them in the factory holes just forward of the ones your v-6 mounts are currently in.
