350TPI hit 7s on 1/8th?
Thats the question of the day for me. I been talking to this mechanic for awhile about working on my car. He seems to think we can get it to hit high 7s fairly easy. Only thing is he seems to think around the price range of $2700. That included of rebuilding the transmission, up the rear, sub frame connectors, 2500 stall....
and of course the engine... Is that too good of a deal?
My car now is a 91 Z28 350TPI, 700r4, 3.23 limited slip... all stock.
I'd like to stay around this price range or around $3k... All of this possible? hit the 7s is the goal (don't have a 1/4 mile track around here).

Well I can give you a reference point. I was at our 1/8 track a few weeks ago and there was a guy there with a new LS1 WS6 Trans Am with a 396 Lunati stroker on a 12 bolt mozer and six speed and he was running 7.70's. He was also on some pretty fat Nitto 555's, not sure of the size though. I'm not exactly sure of the HP he was putting out, but it was enough to snap his drivefshaft on his last attempted run.

The stock TPI will protect you from that.
Spray it gratuitously. That's the only way. If a car that came from the factory with around 400 crank HP and has since had various things done to it runs 7.70, and your car came from the factory with 240 HP, that should give you a rough idea of how much nitrous you'll need. Start at 250 HP and go up from there as required.

well to run 7.99 in a 1/8 then you would run about 12.544 in a 1/4.
I doubt that you could do it with the stock tpi unit. you will probably have to stick the whole 2700 in the motor also. New heads, cam, intake, runners. Unless you go with a HSR or superram. Then you will still need the heads and cam. Not to mention, major prom burning. Dont forget headers and exhaust.
Also forget a 2500 stall, look more to a 3000-3500, tranny work and running drag slicks for traction.
Weight is going to play a big factor also. You need to lighten the car as much as possible.
Im not saying it is impossible, but it takes a good motor or a very light car to get into those times.
I suggest you do some more research and carefull planning before jumping into it.
good luck.
