Project 82 LT1 engine and tranny pics

Well, the motor and tranny arrived the other day at around 2:30pm. After we got it into the garage, we started to swap out the old parts and put the new ones on.
Didn't take any before pictures since it looked just like a standard 45K mile LT1.
Oh, and we worked on the motor for about 12 hours straight.

Cool.

Why auto and not a 6 speed? I just recently converted to 5 speed in my IROC and I can't believe how much more fun my car is to drive....

BTW... I'm near Richmond. If you know anyone looking for some 3rd gen parts, let me know. I'm parting a complete 87 IROC Z, I have some nice 91 Z doors etc etc.

Also, I'm pretty sure it was you, but didn't you have (4) FRONT offset GTA rims on your TA awhile back and a guy from Maryland with a Monte Carlo SS came and bought 'em? I sent him to you...

small world.

The car was already automatic, soo since this is the biggest project the car has seen I decided to follow the K.I.S.S. method...

hopefully be up and running early next week..

Yeah, that was me with the wheels. I appreciate you sending him down, since I sold those wheels so I could buy my wheel spacers. It really is a small world .

That is a Corvette accessory bracket. Makes it easier to install the LT1 with A/C into a 3rd gen.

Cool. I know that the alt bracket was on he upper left, however I have never seen the a/c on the left like that. Glad you do not have to notch the frame.

Good, though I got so involved in working on the engine by the time I ate it the sandwich was ice cold!

Unfortunately all those parts make it impossible to work inside when it rains..

I've got until the 11th of April to get my car running, or I will have to move it to the backyard.
I am being harrassed by this one cop who is being a dick.

I'm just wondering how the power steering reservroir mounts and what it mounts to. I've got the F-body reservoir in my car and we had to make a mount for it. If that is the 'vette version, what does it mount to? Also, if you use the 'vette accessorie bracket, do you have to use all of the vette accessories or is the alternator and powersteering pump the same? Obviously the a/c compressor is different, just wondering about the others.

When the accessories came from street and performance they came with a hardline that runs under the block to the reservoir (spelling?) on the passenger side head..

the reservoir itself mounts on a factory corvette quick release bracket that bolts onto the head. with thoses accessories the powersteering pump and alternator are the same.. the balancer needs to be replaced with a vette unit or street and performance has a spacer...

hope that helps.. the car should be up by midweek.. I will get all the info together with the pics and put it up on a website..

Did you still have to modify the right side mount with the vette brackets?

Thanks Trans Am, that looks pretty sweet. Maybe if I ever supercharge or turbo or something I'll switch to the Vette system, seems like there would be more room to work with. But thats just me.

About all I had to do was move the motor mounts and of course use the stock 3rd gen ones and it dropped in easily. No fab work at all with the Vette accesories.
