70' chevy 307 swap question.

I have the 305tbi out, Im keeping the T5 but the flywheel does not fit the 307 since it is a 2pc rear main. The 307 was on my nova with a 350trans. My question is what flywheel to use? Did early thirdgen gens come with T5 and 2pc rear main small blocks?
Thanks for all the help.
Renzo

Yeah you should be able to find a flywheel from a pre-85 V8 T5 in a bone yard that should work.

The flywheel from any f-body '82-'85 V8 manual tranny would work.

THose flywheels are tough to find. cuz those cars that you are looking for are crushed. believe me, i checked out 7 yards here in ohio, until i bought a new one instead. You will need a flywheel with 153 teeth with a mounting hole of about 2.5". good luck.

I wondered the same thing. If you're going through all the trouble anyway, 350's are cheap and easy to find... and even the most anemic 350 (like mine) will stomp a 307.

That's a pretty broad brush you're painting with there. I'd be more than happy to build a 307 to race you and your "anemic 350" for pink slips.

The dude that won the popular hotrodding engine masters challenge did it with a 307 based motor.

The reason I went with the 307 instead of a 350 was because I had the engine in my nova with only 8k miles on the rebuild. Also this 307 is putting more power than a comparable 73'-up 350. I was actually going to sell the camaro with the weak 305 to finish my 454 but I decided that with the gas prices and having the 307 ready to go. The camaro was the perfect choice for a nice daily driver. The nova will just have to wait until after summer.

P.S. Thanks for all the help I did find the flywheel. I actually got it off a friend that had it in a 350 78' camaro with a T5. He hooked it up for $40 and threw in a decent performance cutch. Thanks again guys.

You've got one part right. 307's can be had for way less than a comparable 350.

not necessarily. 350 are everywhere in everything. 307s had a compairabily short lifetime.
