Question on what to do with TPI
Hi, I have a TPI setup off a 350 and I have available a 305 and a 400 both in running condition. I figured I would throw the TPI on the 400 since it came off a 350 but I was wondering if it would be worth it. Should I just put it on the 305 or what? I don't have the cash to rebuild a 350 or I would do that since I have the block but it is dire need of a rebuild and will not run which is why I figured on the 305 or 400 while I wait for the money to build the 350. Would it be possible to put the TPI on the 305 and use a FPR to restrict the amount of fuel getting to the injectors so they wouldn't be putting out their specified amount or would it be better to just throw it on the 400? I know it's not the best scenario and I'm just wondering which is better. The 305 is a stock LG4 and the 400 is also a stock engine, don't know anything beyond that about the 400, just know it's not hyped up on steriods. The TPI is a MAF setup. Thanks in advance.

There's no such thing as a "350 TPI" or a "305 TPI"; it's absolutely identical on both motors. They put bigger injectors in the ones that went on 350s, and a slightly different chip (fuel/timing curve); but the guts are the same.
I would not recommend putting it on a 400. Put it on the 305, and get something that actually flows for the 400.
If this is the 87 LG4 it will have the same heads and pistons as a TPI 305 would have. All you need is a decent cam and an exhaust all the way from the heads to the street and a fuel pump, and you can make a better motor than an original one.

won't the injectors "flood" the 305 though? That's what I'm worried about and I don't have the cash to get new ones unless someone has some laying around they don't mind getting rid of for cheap. Would I be able to use the 350 chip even if I got the smaller injectors or would I also have to find a 305 chip?

Yes you could use the 350 chip in the 305, espedially if you use a slightly hotter cam. You would definitely need to put the right size injectors in it though, or do some custom programming.
The thing to do for injectors is to get some from some Mustang person that's upgrading them in his 5.0. I paid $30 for a set of them like that for my wife's car. They're essentially the same flow, but the ones F*rd bought just work altogether better than the ones GM used. The GM ones are about the crappiest ones on the market.

I think so, but I don't know for sure. The ones I got are orange and work fine.
You may need to use your old O-rings, seems like the ones for a Brand F fuel rail are smaller and will leak in ours.

as long as they are the 19lbs injectors they should work right? I found some off a mustang with a 4.6 in it and they are 19lbs. they appear to be orange. Think these would work?

LMAO ROFL LOLOL....
Sorry I don't have an answer to your question....but I think it would be a better idea aswell to throw the TPI set-up on the 305.
