HP rating for this 350?

I'm thinking about eventually swapping out my 5.0 for a 5.7 350. My friend told me that this was one of the cheapest 350's I could buy new ----> http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...d=128&pid=105#

My question is, what would be the horsepower rating for this engine on a relatively stock RS? Would it be worth the money?

Just remenber this engine is not a high performance 350. Check the heads and cam spec out first. However; it will make more HP/TQ then the 305 TBI you now have.

That is a TBI motor with crappy TBI heads.

http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...id=128&pid=110

this one costs less and will make just as much power.

or get a short block. Some solid JY heads and go from there.

Any SBC will bolt into any car that came with an SBC. There is a minor problem with the dipstick being on the otherside of the engine (might be might no be) but that is easy to work around.

That is not goint to be a problem at all since this engine got 2 holes (right or left) for dipstick..you just got to choose wich side is better for you and seal the other hole

I'm shopping for a crate engine myself and I thought you might want a few alternatives. I'm looking at this one as replacing my 305.

This next one was really looking good, but I don't think I want to drop the 400 for an intake manifold for the heads. Plus if you want to run egr you have to buy the crossover tube also.

http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...578&pid=154041

I think the 300 hp is worth the money since it also comes with a balancer and looks pretty much ready to go out of the crate.

Just remenber the Dyno numbers these places quote are on a engine test stands with open headers, carb intake, no drive train and no pullies & belts. So don't be surprised if your NOT making anywhere near 300HP when using a TPI system.

Actually the intake they use is listed next to the dyno numbers. I know the sdpc motor uses a stock tpi plenum and edelbrock runners.

Most people will tell you to stay away from the LM1... It takes a lot to make them go.

That is probably because the LM1 has a smaller cam than my LG4 The first thing I would do is get a new cam for that LM1. Hell, I would probably buy the cam before the intake and carb. Hey gigas, call up comp cams and tell them your setup. Then tell them what you want to run and they will make you the cam you need. You could easily be in the 13s with a decent cam, gears, and a stall.

Which one is the LM1? The Go Auto or the SDCP2000?
