1988 5.7 Camaro IROC
1988 5.7 Camaro IROC
I am thinking of buying a 1988 Camaro IROC 5.7 auto,.It had a blown engine due to over heating,..The engine has been swaped from another Camaro IROC 5.7 that had been in a accident,. and this newer engine has 40,000km on it and the car has 160,000km,,..My concern is..I'm not really sure if the engine is out of another IROC,.and if it isn't does it matter?...I was told the car is all stock except for the engine swap,..I was hoping that is was all orignal,..and all matching numbers,..My questions is,.Is this Camaro still an IROC after it's had an engine swap?,..and can it be replaced with any 5.7L or 5.0L,..to make a quick sale?
That car will always be an Iroc, even if someone put an Iron Duke 4-cyl in there. Just as long as someone replaced the blown engine with something comparable or better and in comparable or better condition, than I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure it's a 350. How do you know the new motor is from another Iroc? Are you keeping this car stock? If not, just make sure it's a 350 and mod away, don't worry about it! One more thing...does it run and drive good?

When I first went and seen this car,.The owners gave me the keys to start it up,..I just turned the keys she fired right up,.I let it idle for abit and she idle beautiful,..me and the owner went for a ride there was no hesitation,..he told me to punch it,..it was very responsive ,.and yes I would like to keep this car stock,.. I was concerned,..because of the engine swap,..I didn't really know what kind of engine was in it.,..I'm not sure if it's the engine is from a IROC or not,.but can it be a 305 from another Camaro ,.just leave the TPI and Injectors on the replaced engine?

You could always check the casting numbers on the block. Or even run the VIN attached to the engine.
Well I have an udate on whats in the 88' iroc,..it is an 350 from a chevy p/u with low kms,...so Its not an iroc engine after all...any suggestion on if I should keep the p/u engine in and drive awhile till I have enough for a high performance engine,..I live in Canada ,..and wondering what would be a good replacement engine for this car.
