13.5 sec daily driver
If I can have this type of performance in my daily driver, I'm gonna be happy. I want to keep the 700R4 and understand I'll need to rebuild it and swap out the stall among other things. Motor suggestions or minimum hp and torque requirements to achieve this? (Plus I'm gettin tired of my wifes modified WRX spankin me, I at least want to make an honorable 2nd place
Thanks

13's are easy as pie and cheap. see sig
You can get a 350 H.O. crate motor for like $2,300.
You can reuse your TPI, I think. It's like 330hp/380
ft.lbs. That should get you very close to 13.5. Although
the stock TPI is limited to about that much power, I think.
Has restricted ports, better off with SLP or TPIS runners/intake
or something like that. Maybe convert to carb/intake combo?
13.5 is easy and cheap to get to. BUT, you have a 1986
305 TPI motor. It's MUCH better to start off with a nice
350 rebuilt, new or crate. It's hard to get to 13.5 out
of a 305 TPI. It's only rated from like 190-220 hp. you need
325hp to get mid/low 13s. To get that out of your 305,
just hook up a 100-150 shot of nitrous for like $300,
and blow the motor, NOW you have to get a 350!
Just kidding, but I would HIGHLY recommend a 350 motor
to start. 305s are not the blocks to be modifying with!

thanks for all the help. 325 hp seems to be the minimum I'm gonna need along with 375 ft/lbs of twist. I realize the 305 has gotta go, and I cant wait. I wanted to look before I leap type of thing regarding engine swap. I am looking into a 355 tpi as a possible alternative and by the advice from you all, that should do it. Last question...promise. Recommended stall for this type of power?

It ALL depends on how the powerband will be on the
cam. I am guessing between 2,300-2,600 stall RPM.
That's the norm for a 300-350hp SBC motor. But, of
course, you can have a set of heads that accept a
.550 lift cam, or a low lift cam of .400. So, it all
depends on your cam.
