Check out the various LT1 swappers giudes that are floating around here on this forum. It goes into great detail on what you have to do. The vette accesories are the way to go but you can use the f-body ones if you modify the frame rails a bit.

He wants to keep his 3rd gen accs. I am working on including a section about doing that for my swap guide, but its going to be some time before I can get it up.

Yea thats what I figured but I wanted to make sure he knew that you could convert to the vette ones if it makes it easier.

You'll be giving him props after he gets his site done and he schools all of us how to do it.

Yeah I am having the same dilema. I am putting an LT1 in my Camaro. It originally has the WC T-5 but It will need a rebuild anyway. I cant decide if a rebuild will be a waste of money. Basically I dont want to pay for a rebuild and then have it blow up on me. By rebuild I mean Synchros and maybe bearings.

If you're putting a stock LT1 in, you can keep the T-5, just be sure to get all new synchros and bearings. Mine has held up great behind an Hotcammed LT4, so you should have no problems.

Oh yeah, I think you meant for this to be in another post

i was just makin a point that ive already done it...i used my 3rd gen brackets and accesseries on my LT1 swap...
the LT1 balancer hub assembly sits an inch farther out then the 3rd gen balancer...so in order to use the 3rd gen brackets on an opti fired LT1 youd have to make spacers of some sort that goes bewtween the bracket and the head to bring out the brackets...

on a carbed or 730 fired LT1 the alignment of the backets is perfect...

either way, ive modified my brackets to work....and they work like factory...so im good with knowing that i was first one to do it...so thats enough "props" for me....

TEXAS....by no means and i downing anything that youve done or doing....hell i decided on doing an LT1 swap after reading YOUR guide....im just tryin to lend in my experiance in this matter, which is the point of you guide correct?....so if noone wants to use it then thats fine...i feel damn good knowing that people said it couldnt be done and i did it and made it work...thats good enough for me

I dont see it working very well if that ford t stat housing you used is any thicker than the stock LT1 housing since its already pretty damn close to the bottom of the TB

Woops, my fault then. I thought that you wanted props for asking or something. I had no idea you actually did this. My bad dude.

Haha, its cool man, I was just poking fun. If that guide helps even one person, then I'm happy with it. I'm definitely going to include every bit of information I can about it and different ways to do it, so you can bet I'll put any and everything I can about the 3rd gen accessories. I'll let yall know when I get it all up.

The picture you posted, you must be looking at the drivers side water outlet thinking thats the tstat housing, its the one sitting higher up on the pass side in the pic, already awfully close to the LT1 body, moving up another 1" your already blocking off a duct to the throttle body.

But you can see the Tstat housing just under the intake duct and it looks fine. Most people block off the throttle body coolant passages anyway.

F-crazy, what did you use between the upper air filter housing and the MAF?
