Can someone give me some information on this engine? Like Bore stroke? I want to swap this engine in because i see them all the time and for cheap to.
This is a Chevy engine, and so from what i hear it there wont be a problem to "bolt it on" or is there?

I would also like to know any interesting things about the 5300. My parents just bought a 2004 Avalanche with the 5300. Nice engine, very clean powerful design.

Its a sibling to the LS1, I have one of the 4.8 sitting here, the block is the same between the 4.8 and 5.3, stroke on the 4.8 is 3.27 and the stroke on the 5.3 is the same as the LS1's at 3.62
they are an iron block, alum head setup, im still not sure if the manifold will clear a stock hood or not, and you can bolt the f body T56 to em, pretty much use the same mount & crossmember package thirdgenresource sells for the LS1, though you'd probably end up being better off later if you swapped the longblock for a LS1 block or a 6.0 rather than playing with the stock block and its small bore.

You can do the swap now with the 5.3 and then later get a new or used 6.0 or LS1 block and build on it or just drop in, I believe new 6.0 blocks are selling for round 600 bux, and prices on used ones will continue to drop as GM pours more and more of them onto the streets

P.S. the 6.0 has a smaller bore (4in) then the 5.7.

And dont go posting misinformation, the 6.0 has a larger bore than the 5.7, the 5.7 LS1 has a 3.90 bore, they both share the same stroke, the 6.0 gets its added cubes from the extra bore, and the 6.0 has the same bore as a normal L98 5.7 if thats what you were referring to.

You said the 6.0 has a smaller bore than a 5.7, yet a LS1 5.7 is 3.90 bore, the earlier L98's and other 350's are a 4" bore, either way you look at it, you're wrong.
