I have had enough with this engine. I am getting a new one and I have no money and even if I did, I have no place to do the swap and I am determined to keep my car. What should I do.

 

hell, if the body is nice then do the swap. you realize you have to swap the tranny too right? your best bet is to find a 350 with tranny package. i just saw one in the classifieds for like 500. the swap is really simple, just the chasing wires it what sucks. if you have a driveway thats flat you can do it. getting the motor and tranny in takes all but an hour or 2. chasing the wires and getting it running will take a weekend if you know what your doing. only one way to learn

 

What would you say if I told you my friend was willing to give me a Pontiac 350 and a turbo 400 for nothing

 

I would say throw the 350 away and sell the Turbo 400, and buy something (a) good and (b) that you can actually use.

 

a REAL pontiac motor? blah....a 400 tranny isnt bad i suppose. some people use them. could sell it

 

What I'll be waiting for, is out of all of the people who tell him to sell the motor, how many of them are willing to actually buy it.

A BOP T400 is near enough worthless as it is; but at least it's worth something. I don't think abybody in his right mind would actually pay money for a Pontiac 350 core as easy as they are to find in cars on their last ride to the crusher.

Depends on the year, but no real high-performance Pontiacs, like GTOs or Firebirds used them... they used the 400 or 455 motors.

The TH400 would probably be worth more than the P350, but hey, if its free, you can't lose anything by selling it.

 

You'd still be a couple grand short of being able to get it back on the road.
