Super Ram on LT1?
I've got a lead on a Super Ram base that's designed for the LT1. My question is: what all is involved in swapping a Super Ram setup onto an LT1? Will I need to fabricate fuel lines etc? Thanks,

The stock intake is fine. If you need it you can get it ported to match the heads and throttle body and it will still flow plenty. You are just spending extra money for a super ram.

LPE got a lot of torque using the Super Ram on an LT1 over the LT1 intake, because of the longer runners. That's the reason.

Do you know what the LT1 intake looks like? Have you ever really loked at one?
I don't think there's any way you'd get more power out of any long-tube runner setup than you will out of that.
And, since the LT1 intake is pretty much one piece, there's no real way to add LTRs to it.
Now, you might get more power out of a SuperRam on LT1 heads than you would on L98 heads; that's true as far as it goes. But not more than you would get out of a LT1 intake on the same LT1 heads.
I think you may have your facts a little bit mangled.

Damn...no one's with me on this. The reason I'd like the Super Ram over a ported LT1 intake is because the longer runners produce more torque. Yes the L98 TPI produced a lot of torque, but fell on it's face up top. The LT1 intake produced good HP up top, but could have more torque down low. The Super Ram is a nice medium between the 2. My LT1 will be mostly a street driver, so I would use more low end torque than top end HP.

no, we're with you, and understand what you're saying.
but you're missing two basic points.
1. the THEORY of the TQ and horsepower effects and the REAL LIFE RESULT differ slightly. you're going to be slower and have no real help, even on your daily driver.
2. they never made a superram for the LT1. im sure you could do the oppisite of LT1 intake mods and make it fit and work, however, noone MAKES it for it.. you would have to modify a SBC one to work.
to fab it to work, you would need to modify everything. like they do with a LT1 intake, only backwards.
new TPI fuel rail to LT1 car fuel lines
plug the distrib hole
plug coolent holes
mod intake bolt angles.

A lot of people say that the LT1 intake is better. The only reason I'm leaning towards the Super Ram is because I've seen a dyno graph where the Super Ram has far superior torque to the LT1 intake. The LT1 doesn't match the Super Ram's power until 5000 RPM. Since this will be a maily street car, I won't be revvning much past 5 Grand. Anyone have any comments???

Accel says they didn't stop making the Super Ram for the LT1! This what they e-mailed me back:
Didnt stop producing it. You have a couple of options as far as putting this manifold onyour LT-1. 74196 - SB Plenum/Runner kit (3 inch tall) 74197 - Base Manifold 74196F - Camaro/Firebird LT-1 Plenum kit (2 inch tall)
Depending on if I can get this manifold for cheap, I'm really going to do this. Opinions please....
