Looking for an LT1

Does anyone got any ideas where i can find a complete LT1 motor ? I've looked at Thirdgen Resource, GM Sports Salvage. Looked on Ebay...Thirdgen Resource has them for 1500, but thats not including shipping and not to metion they dont have any right now. Would prefer to purchase one from another board member. Looking to spend $1,500. Anyone ?

First off, let me say this, never go with thirdgenresource unless your absolutely desperate, you will never get your parts on time and who knows what condition it will come in at the door. The best bet is checking ebay and the camarz28.com message boards, people usually sell them there real cheap.

Also, try www.car-parts.com. Ebay is a waiting game, I had the same trouble as you until I stumbled on a 95 trans am + T56 tranny for $1999 buy it now for both including everything for the t56, bellhousing, hydraulics, shifter, the works and a warranty to boot.

You gotta wait for the good deals, best bet is ebay or camaroz28.com, wait it out, it will be worth it, otherwise you'll rush into it and buy something you could have saved over $1000 on.

Also try transam creations... they had quoted me $2500 for a LT1/T56 complete combo and around $200 shipping which I thought was a great deal..

I ended up paying $700 for an LT1 off camaroz28.com and I am still waiting for it.

alright try your local u pick a part yard. Ones around here charge $650-850 on complete LT1 blocks with all accessories, computer and such. Warentee is included(1 year unlimited warentee, may differ from junk yard to junk yard). The tranny is anywhere from$50-100 bucks extra depending on condition.

well lets sya at most you find a low mileage complete LT1 w/tranny for $950. Thats a savings of almost $1k compared to what you'd have to be paying. Thatll cover gas money and the time it takes to drive to where ya need to go. I'd do it.

I think your junkyard is the only 1 in the world that sells stuff that cheap. A t56 for 50-100$? Sign me up for a couple, I'll pay shipping...

My local junkyard wants 400$ for a T5, wait they all do. If you manage to see a 4th gen in the Pull it yourself junkyard, there will not be an engine/transmission/rear end, and most the interior is gone.

nah this one is huge d00d, i mean maybe 3/4 mile wide. Awesome sleection, they dont have the engine in the cars, they pull them out, mostly becuase people wont be able to pull them them selves. They have them in a guarenteeable slelection, and a non guarenteeable selection. I'm guessing the non are bad engines or whatever. I never thouhg the T56 was a big deal, isn't it cheaper nwhen you buy the manual stock, why more now?

No its not cheaper. Junkyards are becoming a rip off in some area's. They sell stuff used for just under retail. Our junkyards are miles long doesnt mean they have good prices. All the newer vehicles go to 1 junkyard, all the older ones go to the other. Newer cars you can expect to pay a **** load. Dont believe me I'll give you there number, ask for some prices...

BTW they wanted 1200$ for a front end to my Honda. Fenders, hood, bumper cover, lights... 1200$.
