bolting a 327 to a t-5
I am looking at this 327 from a 62 impala. when its all said and done will the engine bolt to the trans. im only worried because the guy told me this...
"this being a 62 block, it only has 1 bolt hole drilled into the block by the oil filter, not 2 like all later blocks. So on my chevy II, I needed both holes to bolt a bracket for the clutch z-bar and couldn't use this block. "
will it work?

I don't know about the bolt-hole he's talking about.
But, the heads won't have enough bolt holes. In fact, the heads on your 305 most likely are better than the ones on the 327, so you might want to consider using them.

I know about the bolt holes.
But since your 84 doesn't have a Z-bar, it doesn't matter.
five7 is right about the heads; odds are, your accessories won't fit on that motor. Also, if your motor is still the L69 (like it might not be, as I told you how and where to look to find out if it's the original one for your car) it will probably outrun that old motor anyway.

If its about the hole for the cross bar for the mechanical clutch, just go find an '82 or '83 manual trans at the junkyard and steal the clutch setup.
A 327 would be a much better engine to have than a 305, IMO.
