I won't try to pass myself off as someone who has BTDT, but there shouldn't be a lick of difference.

Gonna have to agree here, if it were 86 to 87 may be different because the birds switched to vss but I believe the 87 to 88 would be exactly the same.

only two things so far, alternator and ac compressor are on opposite sides and fan relays are different(oval instaead of square). so it just makes me wonder if there isnt anything deeper than that

Just move the accessories, all the mounting holes should still be there, I don't think the relay shape matters, if you feel you need to change them go to autozone, can buy them there cheap.

Okay, how much of what's under the hood are you calling the "engine"?

ok heres the back story, i demolished my 87 GTA, got hit by a semi , i saved engine ,tranny. bought a 88 GTA minus engine and tranny, perfect for my needs, interior is in great shape , paint is rough, but all i need is to put my setup in that car..just wondering if theres any hints you guys can give me on doing this, i have never done this before..i was going to put the engine and tranny in at the same time, with a self leveling engine lift.

motor mounts are the same throughout the years, so the engine and tranny will be in the same spot. Same with driveshaft.
