It will be a 383 if you bore the engine .030 over. You can't just put a 400 crank into a 350, it has to be machined. You can get aftermarket 383 cranks pretty cheap now, depending on what you are wanting to do with the engine, it may be better to go aftermarket.

Don't put a 400 crank in a 350 its just not a good idea. It weakens the crank and will cost more to have it machined, then an aftermarket piece. Look for a 3.75" crank setup for 350 mains, commonly know as a 383 crank.

Transmission: 700, but the T-56 is laying on the floor
How exactly will it weaken the crank?

2 people were wrong.

It won't fit. The main journal diameter is different.

You will have to machine the mains down, and then it can fit.

350 rods and pistons will not fit when used with a 400 crank. The pistons will stick out the top of the block. However you can hang the 350 pistons on 400 rods, and then they will fit. After you get the crank turned down of course.

Even if three or more people come along and tell you what you want to hear, the reality will not change.

don't u also hav eto get the block machined to have a bit lipped off the bottom of the cyl, to allow for the crank to spin free?

course maybe to fit a 350 block, i dont know. seems like a lot of machine work when you could just get a 383 crank.
