lt1 timing chain

lt1 timing chain

why is the lt1 chain so much more expensive than that of a l98?? lt1 chains even stock are like 150 bucks. whats the catch??

This is just my understanding but I belive it is beacse the L98 timing chain has been used for so maney more years there is more demand for them thusly they can be made in larger qunaties for more of a discount, where as the LT1 is only used for 5 or so years smaller quanities = larger mfg costs.

ok sounds like it might make sense. the lt has been out for 12 years now. since 92 in vettes, i think it was. or 93 for sure in f bods. is it a stronger chain too??

If that were true and the LT1 chain was the same as the L98 chain, it would be the same price.

the timing set is 150...the chains themselves are the same...the gear are what makes the lt1 set more money...its becase the cam gear has a gear on the back of it for the water pump.

i know becasue i paid 19 dollars for a cloyes chain for my LT1

You're right, I was thinking of just the chain, knew the gears were different.

i got mine at murrays..it our local autostore beside autozone..i know autozone carries them but i think there like 23 24 there...
i reused the gears as they are in working order
