calling out all 383 TBI owners

I am in the market of buying a 383 TBI motor...Something like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW

What im wondering is how does the engine feel in a third gen??Would u go to something bigger in size?or would you go with a ls1??All and any info is greatly appreciated.

I would look at a crate motor first before I bought that. You could have a GMPP vortec 350 + chip stuff, and injectors and 2" unit for the cost of that motor alone. I didn't read the specifics on that motor because I can assume the following is true with all ebay TBI "performance upgrades". Ebay is littered with these motors and they all have one thing in common.

Lame cam
Lame heads
Lame intake
and will not work with the stock chip no matter what they say
huge price tag

There are a couple of guys running 383 TBI's on the TBI board. Try a few searches. Basically they only stayed with TBI because they like it and can tune it. Plus, to an extent TBI is always within a persons FI budget.

That is a great goal but you may have trouble feeding that with a 2bbl TBI set-up. You may want to start looking at the Holley 4BBL set-ups if you are set on that power level and engine size.

I believe the part about "stock computer compatible", don't you?

I sense the coming of the Curse of the Black Pearl...

Ha, We really should say that it is computer compatible but not chip compatible.
