i Need Cam Help..

okay i have a Ultradyne Cam i put in my car... 276/286 duration.. IT Came with hydrolic lifters.... but when i took my stock cam out we noticed Roller lifters... so we left the rollers in with the Hydrolic cam.. would that cause a problem or should it be a little more power since it will leave less friction?..

GET THAT CAM OUT OF THERE, you WILL kill that cam and most likely the lifters to if it's not a roller cam

You simply cannot mix & match cam & lifter types.

A flat-tappet cam has a slight camber on it to spin the lifter around a little on each revolution so it doesn't wear in one spot.

Roller tappet cannot handle that slope. In addition, the roller puts a line load on the lobe, which requires a harder lobe than flat tappets.

Finally, the shape of the lobe is affected by the type of lifter (why the flat tappet lobes are sharper & pointier). A roller on a cam designed for flat tappet will be all wrong.

Hopefully you haven't started this engine yet. If you have, you've most likely wiped out both the cam and those expensive roller lifters.

It would be interesting to see the pile of shreds in the bottom of your pan if you ran it, especially if it were for any length of time.

The only mixing and matching I have ever seen without damage is the solid vs hydraulic.

I would yank that cam anyway and throw it away. Its not worth the risk. That cam my come apart in 100 miles because of the abuse now, even though it looks good. Then you will be in a bunch of trouble. Dont chance it.

It may be more temporary than you think. A flat tappet cam is very very very testy as far as initial break in, and running. I wouldnt chance it, because I have dealt with the aftermath of a wasted cam. Its your choice.

Everyone who tells you to take that cam out is right.
You can get a new cam without lifters for about $60. As long as you have the engine down anyhow get a Crane Hi Energy, they're inexpensive and it's probably a better cam than the ultradyne anyhow.
