383 stroker and stock MAF problem.
I bought a 1989 GTA with a 383 stroker in it to part out. The MAF was unplugged and I was told that the engine would stall with it plugged in during deceleration. I tested the MAF and was wondering if this is a problem with the compatibility between the stock 350 computer and controls with the 383 stroker?
Thanks,
Jim

there could be a whole host of problems if the chip is stock and the 383 has anything more then very mild too it.
I would say a custom prom could make the 383 run just fine, normally the maf is a restriction on airflow, and CFM's and so forth, not on decel and stalling, it should actually help that.
Sounds like a chip problem.

Sounds like somebody didn't change the maf table or injector constant or idle rpm in the chip, so they by-passed the maf. Typical half-assed way to hotrodding. All it needs is a little chip work.
