Unknown Engine ID Number!

I got the id number off my trans am's engine, supposedly a swap. the last three letters which are supposed to what tells you what kind of engine it is. well mine reads DDU but every website I've visited doesn't have an engine with this designation. Could anyone help me with this?

that is about the easiest way i know..LOL...just get a long screwdriver and clean that area off and take a drop light or flashlight and look down the back of the head on the drivers side and get those numbers they arent that hard to get just takes a little time and some patience ...and the ability to lay accross the engine for a prolonged amount of time.....LMAO

THEGENERAL's list says it's an '83. Or, is that list not complete, perhaps?

If it's an '83 engine, then technically it was "swapped" (although "changed" would be what we'd call it here).

Rather than grounds for a lawsuit, it's more like another lesson in life's school of hard knocks called "buyer beware".
