CFI on 350
How well would a crossfire injection setup work on daily driver 350, that would never see the high side of 5500 rpm?
I just purchased an 82 Z and was just going to toss the 305, and build a 350.

I had a 350 crossfire vette. It was pretty quick. Stock it ran a 14.5, with some head porting, intake porting, cam and headers it ran a 14 flat. Many crossfire vette owners have there cars in the 13's and some more radical setups in the 12's.

Its actually pretty nice on a 350. My uncle's Corvette has a CFI 350 ('84). Beleive it or not, CFI is partly the reason for TPI being designed the way it was - they wanted something that would be as torquey as the CFI 350 in the Corvettes were.
Basically, its a VERY torquey setup, and is a really smooth running system too, but don't expect much on the high side of 4000rpm.
Its a good setup for a daily driver for sure, and its not 'work' to drive it, because it just runs really nice and smooth. Its definitelty no fire-breather though.

So if I use a set of 601 heads on this 350, with compression around 9.4 I should be okay?
The 305 HO heads are awesome to 4500-5000 rpm, if ported right.
Thanks guys.

If you really want to keep the CFI, you might consider some upgrades to make it more useable.
There's a procedure somewhere on the Internet about repinning the harness to take a '747 ECM. This one is the same as most later TBI trucks use, much faster processing and more tuneable than the old '82 piece.
You'll also want 350-size injectors, should be same pieces the '84 Vette used.
Good luck!

There was no power difference from 82 to 84, the parts all all the same. The 82 intake is slightly different, but doesnt make any difference. The 747 ecm isnt actually a faster ecm, but uses different code to make it seem faster. Plus the ecm is fully hacked so tuning is easy. The stock ecm isnt well known.
Check out the crossfire forum for all the info you need.

Keep in mind there were no CFI F-bodies made in 1984... All V8's were Carbs...

more ignorance?
Have you ever even owned a crossfire engine? Have you spent years modding it? Have you cracked 13's with one?
If you answer no to any of these questions then kindly keep to yourself.
